Social Media as a Playground
Creativity isn’t just about making things, it’s about living and breathing the work you put out into the world, and caring deeply about it. I was really moved by a brilliant piece by @mattprebeg on It’s Nice That, which sparked these thoughts.
Social media is a big part of how we connect, whether it’s for work, life or play. It’s everywhere. And as we all know, it moves fast. One moment it’s all about reels, the next it’s carousels, long-form, or just letting things breathe. It can feel like a constant chase.
But lately, I’ve started seeing it less as a platform to push things out and more as a creative space in its own right. It doesn’t just carry our work, it shapes it. How something’s shared can shift how it’s experienced. That’s made me approach it more like a sketchbook than a shopfront. A place to experiment, share ideas in progress, and see what resonates.
There’s a real freedom in posting without the polish, letting things be a bit raw, open to feedback. It makes the process feel more alive. It turns followers into collaborators.
And when I stop worrying about the algorithm and start treating it as a space to play and explore, it just feels… lighter. And honestly, that feels like the whole point.
