Pumpkin Spice Season: Why It’s the Ultimate Autumn Drink

There is something about the start of Autumn that just hits different. The mornings get a little colder, the evenings get darker and suddenly we are reaching for our favourite cosy drink.

As soon as the first ‘ber’ month hits – Pumpkin Spice season is here!

Pumpkin Spice has become one of those flavours we instantly associate with Autumn. Warm, comforting and full of spices that we look forward to every year. It’s become more than just a seasonal drink, but a ritual of Autumn.

What Actually Is Pumpkin Spice?

Despite the name, Pumpkin Spice doesn’t necessarily mean pumpkin. The name comes from its association with pumpkin pie rather than meaning that pumpkin itself is a main ingredient. The classic blend is usually made up of warming spices such as cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and cloves, creating that sweet, spicy flavour we all know. (Don’t worry, our Pumpkin Spice blend will always contain real pumpkin!)

Pumpkin Spice Isn’t Just for Coffee!

The classic Pumpkin Spice latte might be the drink that made the flavour famous, but there‘s so much more you can do with it.

While Starbucks didn’t invent Pumpkin Spice, they played a huge part in turning it into the global seasonal drink we know today. Their original recipe combined espresso, steamed milk and those familiar spice flavours. From there, the seasonal classic has taken on many forms across the UK. Iced, hot, caffeine free, cold foams, syrups - you name it, it’s been on the menu! I’ve even seen on menus for this year a ‘Pumpkin Spice matcha’... jury is still out on this one.

And that’s the beauty of Pumpkin Spice. It’s not just for coffee. People have taken our blend and included it in their baking and cooking and whipped up some delicious recipes. A pumpkin spice cinnamon bun is the perfect combo, in my opinion. There really is no wrong way to enjoy the blend.

Your Sign That Autumn Has Arrived

Pumpkin Spice is all about embracing the season. It’s that familiar flavour that comes back every year as the season starts to change.

The days get a little colder, the rain starts to make more of an appearance, and suddenly a warm, comforting drink feels like exactly what you need. It’s something to look forward to, another event for your calendar, and acts as a reminder to put away your summer wardrobe. And after all these heatwaves, I couldn’t be more excited.

So, whether you’re a Pumpkin Spice Latte loyalist or looking to try something a little different this year, consider this your sign that Pumpkin Spice season has officially arrived!

For us, Autumn has a flavour, and it tastes like Pumpkin Spice.
